Franco Della Grazia is a leading international hairdresser who opened his first salon in Clerkenwell, north London. He asked me to design and build his website and bring his brand, designed by Vince Frost, to life. With so many beautiful iconic objects and textures in the salon I began by holding a photo-shoot, complete with Truman the dog.
A cylindrical pillar by the counter was wrapped in a corrugated wooden skin, which served two purposes. Firstly, the wooden texture brought a warmth to the space. Secondly, it served as a clever surface to keep Franco & Co’s fold-out price lists. Each price-list would simply be pushed into the material, and the result was a floor-to-ceiling texture of wood and branded purple price-lists.
Franco developed The Neck Collar, a patented product designed to protect customers from hair escaping down their neck. He asked me to design the packaging, literature and a website to promote and take orders for The Neck Collar. I produced a foil packet printed in 1 pantone colour, with an optional embossed custom packet made out of uncoated brown card. I conducted a photoshoot of the product in-use to show it off online and in a marketing pack we sent out to hair salons and the trade.
