BOUF began after an epiphany, light-bulb moment during a trip to Spitalfields market in East London in 2007.

This was a time when the internet was still in its infancy. Facebook was utilized mostly by a few U.S. colleges, Amazon was focused on selling books, eBay was relatively new and Etsy was a 6 month old experiment. In 2007, there was no online marketplace for design-led products from one-of-a-kind homeware, decorative accessories and gifts with a twist.
