Hi, I'm Alex Griffin — a British Designer, Creative Director and E-Commerce Entrepreneur in Austin, Texas. I invented SunShader, the original, patented laptop sun shade that enables you to work from anywhere. I founded BOUF in 2007 - an early marketplace for designer-made products that was backed by Playfair Capital and Passion Capital and acquired by Europe's largest media company, Sanoma PLC, in 2015. I founded Joolia.com - a jewelry marketplace, and Stuckup - a marketplace for discovering top artists and ordering beautiful framed prints. And, I've worked at some of the world's top branding agencies including Wolff Olins, Interbrand and Frost Design.
I created SunShader® after a lightbulb moment while using my laptop outside on a NYC roof deck, realizing that millions of laptop users would benefit from a device that shielded their laptops from the sun. Our flagship product has generated over $1m in sales and enables freelancers, digital nomads, students, photographers, creatives, DJs to work efficiently, no matter where they are.

SEE THE LOGOSProphet Exchange is an innovative sports betting exchange where users can set prices for others to bet on, or place bets on the prices already available. Prophet hired me to create the branding, marketing creative and to design their early marketplace technology, from scratch.
SEE PROJECTI created Stuckup® as a place to curate the top 10% of artists, provide them with a meaningful supply of customers and give them premium printing, framing & fulfillment services so that they could focus their efforts on making incredible art.
SEE PROJECTI was hired to create the brand identity for a new chain of "extended-stay hotels" for Choice Hotels. Following a series of workshops and an extensive naming process, the name Everhome was selected and I set about creating the brand identity. The project included 6 creative routes followed by the final brand identity, guidelines and all assets.
SEE PROJECTBiC are a category leader in the market for pens, pencils and creative tools. Involving a series of client workshops in Manhattan and at their Connecticut HQ, I helped to develop stories and concepts, and develop the look and feel, branding and point-of-sale materials for the BiC Intensity range of premium pens, markers and pencils for aspiring artists.

SEE PROJECTI created a radical campaign in the UK to encourage young people to cut-down on their TV consumption, and instead get outside, be active, form relationships. I developed a vibrant, vector visual language that simplified the message into striking, bite-size, quirky graphics and paired this with Nintendo-style soundtrack and captions to really hit home the message.
